Spotlight on a Gulf Coast Folk Hero: Drew LandryDrew Landry is a storyteller. He recently sat before a commission appointed by President Obama in New Orleans, LA to share his story. He did so in classic folk hero style: with a song! He is an impressive song writer and talented singer. Enjoy! The Baton Rouge native has been working in the swamps of Southwest Louisiana since high school & is still one of roots music's best kept secrets. Drawing comparisons to an early Dylan, Townes & The Band - His music is strong & diverse enough have earned him gigs alongside songwriters: Billy Joe Shaver, Charlie Louvin, Dwight Yoakam, Texas country acts including Robert Earl Keen, Cross Canadian Ragweed, & Randy Rogers, & Rockers like Johnny Winter, Hank 3, Sonny Landreth, and countless others. After touring from the Catskills to the Redwoods Landry returned to Louisiana to record, “Sharecropper’s Whine”. In his music you'll find glimpses of his roots and the places he has been. |
